NORMAN, Okla. – Doug Ghim of Texas has been named to the United States Arnold Palmer Cup team. The annual Ryder Cup-style competition will be played June 24-26 at Formby Golf Club in Formby, England. Ghim replaces Maverick McNealy.
A sophomore from Arlington Heights, Ill., Ghim was an All-Big 12 selection this season. He competed in every event for Texas this season and finished in the top eight seven times. His best showing of the season was a runner-up finish at the NCAA Franklin Regional, where he carded all three rounds in the 60s. Ghim posted eight rounds in the 60s and was under par or better in 23 of 40 rounds. He was 3-0 in match play at the NCAA Championships and was runner-up at the 2014 US Amateur Public Links.
